FAQs
What are EPS, EPP and EPE?
- EPS stands for expanded polystyrene.
- EPP stands for expanded polypropylene.
- EPE stands for expanded polyethylene.
No CFCs, HCFCs or other gases harmful to the ozone layer are used in these materials. They are all thermoplastics that soften when heated and harden when cooled.
What is styrofoam ® ?
The term styrofoam is frequently used to refer to any foam-type plastic. However, it is actually the trademark for a different process than that used to produce EPS. Styrofoam contains CFCs or HCFCs and is manufactured by extrusion, not moulding. Often pink or blue, styrofoam is only produced in sheets and is mainly used in thermal insulation.

What is the lost foam casting process?
- This is a casting process that uses a high-precision moulded model made of
EPS. This model is then covered with a ceramic paint that serves as the mould.
When the molten metal is poured, the part made of EPS vaporizes and the metal
takes its exact shape.
